I see in the Krause there is an 1875 and an 1875H. Where would I look for this "H"? Is this the large date or small date variety?
Bought a nice XF/AU piece for $3 today at a coin shop. LMK if you think I'm off on the grade here. I'm thinking solid XF.
I'll post pics later. My 1st penny! I'm assuming this is the non-H variety, but I still cant help but notice it books at $75.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

From the images it looks like a Freeman F-82 Obverse 8, Reverse J (Rarity R-5), the most common of the 1875's
Feel free to contact me if you need any info.... If I can, I'll be glad to assist........
Still... can't go wrong for $3.

<< <i>Not an XF in my opinion. VF details, but I'm concerned about the rim nicks and especially what is going on with the spot on the reverse.

Is there anything I can soak this in that will undarken it and possibly remove the spot, or is it best to leave it as-is?
corrosion has begun within the coin. Keep it until you can find another,
better specimen. On an interesting note though: the spot is placed where
the sun would be in the background above the ship. I like it.
It would be even more interesting if that spot toned a red-orange color. Hmm...

From what I can see, I don't see the rim nicks other than the one under the trident and to me, if I were purchasing it, I would grade as a pretty nice Fine which may go VF based on the pics shown (maybe this is why I don't have too many bad feelings about eBay? I go by what I can actually see and not hope for the best)...
I just had to give you two a hard time... Did you tweak the picture to view it better or am I really as blind as a bat?
