I've had a lapse lately..... does it make me any less of a collector?

  No. I haven't bought much lately, either. I don't consider myself a collector, just one who can't afford much of what he wants at these levels.

  The important thing is that you did not buy any collectible stamps. You can get booted off the reservation for that offense.

  many collectors go through similar cycles endlessly or end up focusing on one area after a while (with a few out-of-focus purchases every now and then)...so you are not alone!
