Both those coins are hammered with nice toning, I like them!
There is nothing like the feel of a heavy silver dollar though, it's a fun but challenging series. Although money is important for the series, timing is a lot more important because the more difficult coins rarely come up...in the year and a half i have been collecting the dollars i have yet to see a 51 or 52 in XF-AU which i'd consider for our collection!
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!
Though I have an MS example I still like the look of the VF grade in this series. Nice 73cc BTW, I've been looking for one for a while. it's my favorite year in the T$ also.
Damn! Just how prooflike is that thing? More importantly, could it be related to a half eagle and an eagle, being the largest silver denomination of that date?
I love the seated series, esp. the quarters. Hard to pick a fav, but I guess this one is for now... the original ones from the 40's are so tough. (I used to own the one in an NGC holder in 66 which has better color, but it now resides in another guys registry set.)

I consider it technically to be a cameo PL, but as all L.S. specialists know, it'll be a cold day in h&// before our host with the most will give this coin the designation.

Coinosaurus, you wouldn't happen to have an extra 1873-CC quarter sitting around somewhere, waiting for someone to buy it, do you? >>
Oh sure. I've got a whole roll of them
It's funny, before I had this coin I had a VG coin with some problems. I had lost money on a few other problem coins I bought before I knew what I was doing. So I was always being POed at myself for having that 73-CC. Then after I got this one here I sold the duplicate and made a substantial profit. So, the lesson is, there is no substitute for rarity. If something is rare and popular, problem coins are not hard to sell.
