Jade Rare Coins 1/2 cent purchase opinions needed.

What do you think? I am on the edge here. It would be for my 7070 type set. Does it look ms-63 to you?

30 day return.

I have a tough time pulling the trigger.

Looks very nice to me Rob. Nice chocolate brown, nice detail. I'd love to have it in my 7070, but alas, I'm lacking in the funds

O well, I am gonna take a shot. I just reserved it. It seems a little odd to me that a company
only takes checks or money orders in todays world. If it does grade out at ms 62 or higher I will be happy.
It is going into my Dansco anyhow, but that lil voice in my head with buying raw is ever present.

The 30 day return w/ no stocking fee eases my mind quite a bit though.

We shall see next week maybe.

Jade Rare Coin is a good company. They're just a few miles from where I live. I've talked to them on the phone, and they are nice people. I haven't bought anything from them yet.

edited to add: That half cent looks super nice! I like it!

Jade is a regular contributor here and a good person. The coin looks appropriately graded. Many nice 1/2 cents and large cents are in the hands of early copper collectors who don't like slabs and who, in fact, are known to free nice copper from its plastic bonds from time to time! This may be the case of this coin, which to me, looks appropriately graded and "unfussed" with.

They're good people.
The company was started by 2 people that used to post here. 1 still does. If I recall, neither of them are part of the company now.
Used to be JAmes Garcia and DEnnis Tarrant (hope I got the names right). JA and DE created JADE.
James left, Dennis stayed and joined with other people.
Dennis left and is Numisma on the boards here now.

CU forum member Tassa joined Jade a year or two ago. I think I might have seen a post or two from the owner (Andrew) but that may not be the case. I know he's been referenced here and has appeared in some members' show review photos.

I've been happy with all of my purchases from Jade Rare Coin and its new and former owners. You really can't go wrong with such a customer-friendly return policy.

It's a nice coin, you should have no probs with it. As for why no cc's, well, they do charge fees you know - that eat into margins. The dealer can either decline them, or have to jack up his selling price to compensate.

I have seen that coin in person and it is very nice. Perfect for a 7070. Andy and Danaca are very fair and easy to deal with. They are at the MSNS show in Dearborn right now. I should be there, but my 8 year old YN got car sick on the way there, so we did a U-turn and came home. Hope you enjoy your new 1/2 cent!

come to think of it, some of my favorite dealers don't accept credit cards...and of those that do, most (if not all) are willing to extend a better price break with use of a check or MO

Ok I just got the coin in the mail. Here are 2 photos. 1st photo is mine taken in my Dansco.

It seems as there are alot of rotated reverses on earlier coins. Correct?

2nd photo is the picture they emailed to me from the website.

Not that it is a big deal, but I wonder why they did not show or describe the rotated reverse?

You can also see the mark on Liberty's cheek and neck much more clearly in my pics than theirs.

So opinions, does it still look like an MS63 to you familiar with early coppers?

Rotated reverses are so common on Classic Head Half Cents that it is accepted as "the norm". Sometimes it will get a mention, but other times it does not. If it were a series that rarely comes with rotated reverses, then it would certainly have been mentioned.
