SMS fans....Any chance this could CAM?

I'm not that well versed in the Washington line but does the cheek area and neck look a little thin? I think the reverse is a shew in for CAM but what about the area under the eagle's right wing and left wing tip? I personally think the obverse is lacking but the reverse seems real nice.

Looks cam to me, but I'm far from an expert.

I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands! image

  • Looks cameo to me, but um, its real hard to tell from the pictures. Send it my way and I will let you know for sure image

Real nice SMS coin though, does the rest of the set match??

i think what kills most of these is haze in the fields and the area where the eagle's wings meet the body, typically weak frost areas. that's a beautiful example no matter what it grades at.

  • Thanks for the replies. I guess I am looking at it like a proof which it isn't but I see it looking thin on the obverse.

Maybe my standards are too high?

That was a joke by the way. image

Are you planning on flipping it or keeping it? If you're planning on keeping it, since PCGS seems to be in a tough grading cycle right now, you might hold on to the coin raw for a while until they loosen up again.

I'm thinking of keeping of it for awhile at least. I'm planning on submitting some in May but the way everyone is talking about PCGS being tough right now, I might wait a little longer.

I cracked it out of a PCI holder as a DCAM. Paid $11.00 for it thinking I would put it with a raw SMS set with some other nice coins in it.

After I cracked it out, I had my doubts of it even making CAM so that is why I was asking others for their opinions. The reverse is prettyy strong but the obverse just seems kind of thin.
