Not ONE! Merchants that I have spoken to say that they don't want them either.

Do we have another failed small dollar coin on our hands?

I spend them and tell the merchant to give them out in change, but I doubt that they ever do.

The only coins I have seen are the ones I got from the bank on the first day of release.

I have buoght 3 rolls,cherrypicked 4 that might grade 65/66 and spent all but a few others that are currently pocketpieces.

That's a great point. I haven't received any as change, but if I did I don't know that I would carry it around and spend it. To carry around a few bucks in my pocket as paper is a lot different than as coins.

They did it backwards. First the govt should require all retail businesses and their cashiers to be coin collectors. THEN introduce these. Changing all of US society is trickier than we thought.

I purchase a couple rolls a week, and use them in daily transactions. I have no interest in collecting them.

I have noticed that when I spend them. The cashiers put them in their pocket and put rag bucks into the till to cover my purchase.
I think that they are going into a lot of change jugs as most people are just starting to see them.
Remember when everybody was holding on to their Kennedys. Most of those coins are still out there.

I haven't received one either, but to be sure I've never received a Sackie, a Susie, or an Ike in change without asking. Sometimes I spot them in the till and ask for them, but I've never had a cashier give me one of their own volition.

I've spent thousands of them, though, so I'm certainly doing my part.

As has been said ad infinitum, no dollar coin will suceed as long as the rag-buck remains in production. Would that our congresscritters would learn this lesson someday...

My dad got one in change last month down in Florida. It has no date.

It is worn rather nice though.

I think I'll spend it and allow it to move on.

I too have not received any small dollars in change yet i have spent around 100.

Same thing here - I spend plenty and the cashiers struggle to find a place for them. Now and then I'll see some in the till off to the side and ask for them in change, and they usually tell me they don't hand them out because nobody wants them. They say they usually stick them in with the night deposit and return them to the bank. It is looking like the life span for most of these will be:

Fed to bank.
Bank to collectors.
Collectors to businesses.
Businesses back to bank where they will set forever or go back to collectors and start the process again.

I've put a couple of thousand into circulation.
Use them for meals, gas and postage. Spend around $300/week
Everyone had better start using them soon or the vaults at the Federal Reserve will burst.

I buy my lunch everyday with them. Hopefully the tellers will get so sick of them that they start handing them back as change.

Our vending machines at work also accept them.

I've seen some SACs & SBAs circulate recently, given as change at my school's fund raiser.

Students actually were using them to pay for baked goodies.

Was nice to see.

I don't get dollar coins in change unless it is from a PO vening machine or I see some in the till and ask for them.

I have no problem spending them. I use them regularly and most places accept them without comment or even a second glance. From time to time people will buy them from the till but this happens only rarely.

Try an automated car wash, pay $15 for the $12 wash - my change was three $1 coins. Or, buy stamps from a PO vending machine - use a $10 bill for a single book.

Never got any in a store from a clerk.

I used one the other day and the cashier called the manager over and said "do we take these?". After the manager said ok, I asked why they wouldn't take them. The cashier said it was because they keep losing them. HUH??? I then asked her how come they don't lose quarters, after all they are smaller. She just looked at me funny and said that she couldn't tell them apart from quarters. So I then I asked her if she can tell quarters apart from nickels, and if so, why can't she tell quarters apart from dollar coins, especially coins which are different colors. That only got me another funny look.

I almost never seem 'em either and when I do the cashier gets all bent out of shape out them being 'Godless Dollars'

I explaine that it was an accident and not intentional, and even if it was intentional is was just to boost coin collecting... they then look puzzled but a little less hot under the collar...

Baltimore Light Rail fare machines return change with GW's, SAC's, and Kennedy halves.

My fare was $3.50, I put in a $20 bill and voila......lots of golden coins!!!!!

I no longer expect to get one in change, ever. The intention to have them widely circulate has seemingly failed...

300M hoarded just like the bi-centennial coinage and conequently they will be forever worth $1.
