UPDATE: I wish I had caught this earlier..74/77 100% PFB
I've been watching eBay for a 1970 Small Date mint set. I was fxing to snipe one in the next 10 min. I just noticed that the seller has been idle since Jan. 2006 and all of a sudden is auctioning off 77 items that all expire at 11:00 p.m. EDT tonight! Do I smell a hacked account here?

I suppose you're right. I got spooked and didn't bid. based on his past selling patterns this 77 auctions going off at the same time doens't really fit and makes me feel hinky. I will follow it for the next few weeks to see if his buyers are satisfied.

I opened my ebay account back in '98 or so. Barely used it and only started using it more when I got back into coins (2002). Then, I still go months w/o any purchase/sale.
I can easily see others doing this as well (friend of mine has an account with feedback under 10 and bought new speakers ($$$$) and sold his old one for $400+). I can image that, since he rarely does anything on ebay, people were wary of him, but I knew he would be 100% on these and anyone getting them would be ok.
Maybe dude came into inheritance of someone who had these? Maybe he is trying to be a coin dealer? Paypal's accepted so I would feel a bit better as a buyer.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
If he's a scammer and he's got 77 items going at an average of $20 per, he's going to make a decent score. If he's legit then it's a win-win-win for all stakeholder.
What I've learned from posters of your caliber here on CU and others is that it is pruduent to be careful when doing transactions on eBay for both Sellers and Buyers.
Thanks for the advice!

Lot's of positive feedback since selling off 77 auctions at the same time. Much from the same bidder. Stay tuned.

When I got back into coins, I had a lot of proof sets I got from the same seller too. After selling for a couple of months, he disappeared (well, at least he didn't put anything else up on ebay). I bought quite a few proof sets from him (at least 20 different auctions...can't remember if any were for more than 1 but I don't think so) and liked the combined shipping and a seller I felt I could trust. Mine did have high feedback though.
I was so new to coins then, and not a ton on ebay, that I didn't know anything other than to look at his feedback. I didn't look for shills, I didn't snipe. I didn't think he was going to not send them, etc. I just looked and noticed I did this a lot when I was new...found a seller I thought I could trust, then hung onto their auctions for awhile.
Yours could be a rip off, as you think or he could be like what I had.
The winning bidder could be like what I was. New enough, not knowing a lot, and just "accumulating" and grabbing from 1 place.

Bochiman! That is exactly why I am following up on this eBayer's auctions. I felt "hinky" about bidding myself. But I also have some hope that this seller just might be legit! Your contributions about similar experiences lend credence to the possibility that his sales are bona fide.
Just another reaason why I will continue to follow the progress of the 77 items offered all up simultaneously.
I'm starting to kick myself in the butt for shying away from the origial auctions. But, it is better to be cautious when in doubt than to risk caution and lose everything!

That could also be the result of a shill bidder, unless the bidder is clearly ok, (long time on eBay, good feedback, from lots of different people etc.)
