I inadvertantly did something very stupid at Baltimore

....

I was at the show on Saturday with my middle kid Katie, age 6. We wandered around a bit and went over to see Liz at JJ Teaparty to sell her a pretty expensive coin that we had been corresponding about. While she was taking care of our our deal, Katie and I were looking at some of their raw CBH's and Katie had my Zeiss loupe out and was trying to use it.

I collected my money and we went about our way. Roughly an hour or so later I spotted a coin in a case that I wanted to inspect with my loupe and reached into the pocket where I keep it and it was not there. I searched my pockets and my bag and did not locate it so we wandered back towards Liz.

As I walked up near their table she tells me "I've got something for you".

What a sigh of relief.image

I don't know if I left it laying there or if Katie did and I didn't see it while Liz and I were finalizing the deal....

I sent her an email upon my return home to thank her but they must keep her tied up doing work because I haven't heard from her yet.

Thanks to Liz!

    Funny thing I just remembered.

She insisted on filling out her own name tag and insisted on being called KATELYN.

I'd be willing to bet you could have left your money, your loupe, and your daughter. They would have taken well care of all. jws

    Hmmmmmm.............
I was thinking when I read this that the ending was going to be that you asked your daughter for the loupe and she handed it to you along with a 1795 flowing hair Half she was looking at that she wandered away with.
Oh well, your ending is okay, though not as exciting.

  • Liz and JJTeaparty are good people. I stopped by their table to look at the three 1916 DDO Buffaloes they had.

I've done that countless times (albeit with less expensive loops). I dont know what it is but I lost a loupe about once a year. image

All's well that ends well. No biggie.

  • JJ Teaparty is A-ok in my book. I bought one of my most favorite coins from them. Not rare or expensive, just a MS 1936S buffalo nickel, but it has the smoothest prooflike surfaces I have ever seen on a buffalo (that wasn't a real proof). In fact it is due back from NGC anytime now. Which reminds me I need to call them and get a status...image

Hi Goose, it was nice meeting you and your daughter in person at Baltimore. I would suggest getting a lanyard for your loupe, you can buy one from ANA, you can get a free one at FUN, or Rod Burress carries them too.

Luckily, the only thing ever stolen from our table was a Zeiss loupe.
