Is this the correct grade?

I purchased this from a seller who stated he was an advanced grader. He represented it to me as an MS63. I am reselling it. Not trying to drum up business just wanted to make sure I wasn't misrepresenting the grading.

comments? thanks

Perhaps a better way to assure others you're not trying to "drum up business" would have been to post the photos and ask the question before the auction started.

Edited to add: A translation of my above statement for those that didn't get it. You're spaming and it's lame. Go somewhere else.

    his/her first post EVER, GMAFB
  • to 50 cent:

I stand behind my feedback rating. 7 years selling on eBay. I know that if i give a negative I will almost assuredly get one back. I never ask for feedback. I never give feedback first (or only on rare ocassions) if I solicited feedback I would be over 2500 for sure.

Edit: changed as I saw link was deleted.

For someone who only has 2 posts now, you sure figured out how to add links, pictures and an avatar quick image Although you forgot to turn on your profile.
  • What does a first post or 10,000th post got to do with it?I still don't see the spam,so enlighten me.

    1. Any forum has customs. This one is no different. A person who jumps in and breaks customs, either intentionally or through lack of any kind of casual research, is going to take some tomatoes thrown at them.

    2. Posting a coin for sale on the coin forum is bad form, according to custom. It is considered spam. If you don't like that custom, find another board or stick around here, participate, contribute, and use the force of your personality to change the custom.

I hope that clarifies it for you.

Reading the first post, I really don't get the sense that she was trying to promote the sale of that coin. Was something edited out that I missed?

The flatbed scanner makes the coin look lifeless. The strike is weak with hair detail missing (I guess not unexpected for an O mintmark), but because it is a scan rather than a photo, hard to see luster breaks which would point out wear versus bad strike. Since the breast feathers seem all there, I'll say strike instead of wear. MS62/63 IMO.

That's because the current first post is not the original first post. The edit function works wonders.
  • Only thing changed was that she added an obverse pic to the original post.Still no spamming.

Only thing eh? What about the link to her auction selling the coin? Oh yeah...forgot about that huh?

Edit: Plus the fact that there were ZERO photos of the coin in the thread originally. You had to click her link to see the pics in the auction to see the coin at all.

I removed the link and uploaded the pix to my FTP. Thanks for giving me credit for that.

Maybe its indirect spam. I will answer the question anyway. The coin looks like it could grade at MS63, IMO. Unless that is wear on her hair. Scan is not detailed enough to make a good determination.

    SnoopyII,

I'm still curious about some things:

If you wanted an opinion so as to sell the coin accurately; why did you list it for sale before asking?

    Also,

As a new member how in the world did you figure out the...... edit, linking, adding pics, quoting, avatar things so quick? I must really be slow image

I feel the need to clarify something..........

If you meant "you suck" in the negative form then you sir are correct. If you meant it in the positive form then you were mistaken. Here's the obverse of the coin... image

3 things I see wrong with your auction

    Not having a .99 start
Not having a picture of both the obverse and reverse
Not a clear return policy in the auction
  • certainly looks like a solid MS63
  • You have to watch those "Spam Busters" Snoopy, they can be really hard on first time posters.image

It's difficult to say from the photos. Could go anywhere from 58-63. I don't have a problem with advertising it as a 63. In the long run, the bidders will decide if it's a 63 and worth a 63 bid.
