Tuskegee Airmen Commemorative

Hello all, I was just watching my local news and they made mention to a Golden Commemorative honoring the Tuskegee Airmen from WWII, I dont know if these will become available to the public, but if they do, What would you think the numismatic value would be? BTW its about time they get their honor for the job they did in WWII!!image

I found a link to an article

    This is a great cause!

As for numismatic value, it's a medal instead of a coin. How well have other recent Mint medals done?

To find the Congressional Act, search for Tuskegee on the Mint Legislation page.

Aren't bronze medals available to the public in these instances?

1.5" and 3" bronze versions are actually on sale now. Great looking medal IMO.

This is just another PC commemorative medal. It won't sell well and will have little demand in the aftermarket.
    All glory is fleeting.
  • How do you know that?

Who knows, it could have great historical worth which does not have to have a dollar sign does it?

NGC slabs Mint medals. Would PCGS slab this? Is there a Registry Set for Mint Medals?
  • It's odd -- PCGS has some of these in the Pop reports, but when I've tried to submit them (most recently the Reagan one) -- it was returned "refund no service"

    I don't understand...

I'm going to order one!! You have to be impressed with the group's war record. They did not loose any bomber due to enemy action that they escorted. That is a powerfull statement. As far as I know no other escort group (Allied or Axis) can claim this fact. I had the honor of meeting a few of these gentlemen. They were all great guys. They really seemed to love it when little kids came up and asked about their story.
