1958 Mint Set Toners
I bought a nice 1958 Mint Set today. The original mint holders were in pretty bad shape, so I took the coins out. Here are the best three coins. I will probably send them to PCGS.

Man I love those! Thank you US MINT for not being able to predict the future in keeping coins white and for using cardboard.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
I knew it would happen.
<< <i>nice coins but don't split up the set. Keep them in the original holders. If they looked like they would grade 66+ or 65 full bell line I might think different but nieier has full bell lines and one looks 64 and the other 65. The washinton looks 65 also. I would just keep it orignal and enjoy the set the way it is.
Normally I would have left the set intact and sold it the way it was, but since the mint packaging was so beat up, I decided to split it up.
Those are all 66, easily.
The cardboard was so cheap it almost dripped oil like when you squeeze a grilled cheese sandwich.
I wouldn't worry about trying to keep an original set intact. It may already have been played with, FBLs swapped out or something. Both those Frankies are D mints. Don't the original sets come with one D and one no mint mark (P) ?
I don't mean to put down those coins or anything, that 2'nd Frankie looks neat!

They came with two coins from each mint- that's why they are called double mint sets. With matched toning like that I don't think you have to worry about the coins being switched out. Some of my best sets were in holders that were disintegrating. The 57 pink cover paper was the worst. The green cover paper used on the 58's have fared much better. I would just make my own cover paper and sell the set in tact. With good pictures like you have shown it would do very well and you would make more money compared to paying for them to be graded.
U.S. Type Set
I was happy to get an original 58 mint set last year.....
My Odds&Ends eBay Stuff to fuel my coin habit (No Coins)
Nice pick-up!
The pink cover paper made for nicer colors on the '56 set I had for a few years.
If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!

Nice coins, every early mint set i ever look at is the boring banged up silver coins
