in U.S. Coin Forum
I had a little business to take care of in the downtown area, and afterwards decided to poke around in one of the little antique shops in the area........ While looking around, I spotted a small box of coins in 2 x 2's........ The tag on the box said 1/2 off anything in the box.......... This one was originally marked $1.00 !!!!!!!!

I didn't even complain when the guy behind the counter told me that he wouldn't take 50 cents off the marked price........ In his words, "Anything with a 1700's date is worth a buck"......... Yup......... Paid my dollar willingly !!!!!!!!!!

Talk about a bad place for a planchet flaw image

    Nice pick ! About 25 years ago i bought a Virginia 1/2 penny out of a dealer's foriegn 10 cent box.I still have it.

    I'll tell you that you suck after you attribute the die marriage. What is the point of cherrypicking something like that if you're not going to attribute it? You could get a You Super-Suck award if it's an R6 or higher.

    Seems to me that "sucking" should be a little about luck. When you skillfully acertain that a 63 is an easy upgrade to a 64 and thus make $10k, you have earned your prise and you don't suck. You earned it.

    If it turns out to be R5+ then the "YS" is warranted but a "YS" for a $44-$74 profit....nah.

    Maybe suckage should depend on percentage of profit. 4400%-7400% is VERY sucky! image

    No better then a nice score. The guidelines are tightening up. Profits have to be over $1000 for an official you suck IMHO.
    Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

    My guess is that it is a M.32.1-X.3. Michael Hodder lists that variety as an R-3 to R-4 in his Stack's May 2005 catalog of the John J. Ford collection; Part IX. The auction contained an AU example as lot 339. It opened at $1,000 and closed at $2,600 (without the additional 15%). I would guess that yours has XF detail. Very, very nice!

    You get a You SUCK from me. It was very lucky score but the original poster first dug through junk and identified this as quite a steal and bought it for a dollar which takes some skill and knowledge no matter what. IMO the dollar amount doesn't matter as much as the % profit which is very good in this case. Either way YOU SUCk or not its quite a story.
