eBay/PayPal Seller Risk
I am sure this has been discussed before, but I cannot find the right thread.
A buyer bought a coin from me for a little less than $300 on eBay and paid with PayPal. Exact shipping was charged for USPS Priority with delivery confirmation and insurance. USPS Track and Confirm shows it was delivered in three days. The buyer is saying they never got anything. Is my delivery confirmation sufficient against a claim that would lose me both the coin and the proceeds of the transaction? I was going to use signature confirmation, which I do for slightly higher coins and up, but was trying to save the buyer money. From now on, I think I will just do free shipping to the buyer and use signature confirmation for anything over $150, assuming the cost myself.
What are other experiences? How does PayPal handle these situations?

Over $250, you need signature confirmation.
I would use signature confirmation next time, it cost a few cents more, but covers you on who picked the coin up.
Hope it all turns out OK for you.
lose the dispute unless you used signature confirmation.
Insurance, sig/con, del/con are ALL for the protection of
the seller.
Since the buyer claims the package "is lost," file a report
with your PO. You can file on the insurance, if the buyer
still sticks to his story after the PO looks into the matter.

<< <i>when I told the clerk I also wanted sig confirmation she said they must sign for the insured item when it is over $100.00 anyway. >>
That's true. But, it's also irrelevant in a PayPal claim situation.

Good luck, Coxe. As you say, hopefully it's already at her house and she just hasn't found it yet.

Russ is correct. Paypal's excuse is they must be able to verify the signature online. Insurance and even Registered Mail signature's are not verifiable online.
<< <i>I checked with eBay and since I have proof of insured delivery to a confirmed address they say I am ok. >>
You should've spoken with PayPal, instead. They will rule in the buyer's favor.
