I'm pissed
I've had a lousy weekend for selling stuff on ebay.
All the certified coins I sold (which I should mention were all PCGS OGH) sold below greysheet bid, including a 1941 Walker PCGS MS65 that sold for $89. GRRRRR!!!!! Numismatic rage!
For those of you windering my ebay ID is 21212
alright, let me set the record straight... everyone has been telling me that $10.70 is excessive for shipping. Ultimately, I made a mistake on the shipping fee for this auction, and when I sen tht einvoice to the winner I corrected it. it is $5.50 for s/h then 2.20 for insurance. I had it set on 5.20 from a previous auction, and forgot to change it

EBayers seem keen on <$100 coins right now.

it's nice to see people get bargins as well as getting bargins too or is it just me?
I am sorry your '41 Walker in 65 did less than $90. Personally I like gem Walkers...
Here are my comments:
1- $10.70 shipping is excessive, ESPECIALLY for first class mail. With shipping like that, I hesitate to bid at all, if for no other reason, because if the coin has a problem, I lose a lot on a return.
2- The pictures show what's a nice coin, but don't really give any reason to assume 66 or 67. They could be larger and certainly better show of the lustre and clean fields. Nothing screams PQ, especially when I see a spot and fingerprint on the reverse.
As it is, the last three at Heritage (PCGS MS65) went for $98, $86, and $109... not much deviation from yours after shipping is included. I think you'd do much better to spruce up your listing, but I also don't think the coin is too far off from what it's going for elsewhere...

It's a slaughterhouse on ebay, brother.
Practice makes perfect & nobody is perfect. So, practice being nobody and be perfect !
So, my discretionary income is a bit on hold until I see the final on that (combined with a trip to Mexico coming up, then Las Vegas, etc). So, may not be the best time for some items selling.....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I am not mad, I'm hurt

Agreed. That's a nasty looking spot on the reverse -- probably did well to get $90. Bidders are now very wary of overhyping of the OGHs, as most of the truly undergraded ones have been cracked. And I am sure the $11 shipping turned off a lot of bidders.
The Graysheet folks are not always that accurate when it comes to some series or coins, and at times make some changes that just don't have a lot of basis in actual sales results. The GS is only a price guide period. Generic Walkers and Morgans in actual sales almost always bring less than Bid in my experience at shows as well as even Ebay as they just aren't rare at all. If I happen to auction off a generic such as that anything I get at bid or better is acceptable and within range.
That said a nice looking auction page with reasonable shipping charges as Jeremy commented about does help as well.
It's about paying the right price for the right coin, putting the time into a listing to make it stand out just a bit, and hoping everything technologically goes ok as well.
There are a lot of things which can be less than optimal once in awhile. I hope your results are better for you in the future. Good luck.

An 1803 in XF40 looked to be nicer. Turned out that 2 of the halves were out of the Heritage 2007 FUN auction and brought about 5-10% less than what they realized there.

Started to dump some ASE sets, 320-330 each set plus shipping
<< <i>I think this is the walker auction

To add my two cents to Jeremy's comments:
1. The shipping charge is way out of line. Bidders see excessive shipping charges and run for the exit.
2. The photos are terrible. You need three photos, all of which need to have the correct color balance:
a. Full slab to show that it is a PCGS coin.
b. Close-up of the obverse against a neutral background. Try buying a photo gray card and putting it under the slab.
c. Close-up of the reverse.
To my eye, the coin looks overgraded. I don't want to see spots on coins with 65 grades in PCGS holders.
As I mentioned in a thread I posted yesterday, MS Walking Liberty halves seem to be flooding the market. I went to a local show yesterday and saw plenty of them. If Sunday bourse dealers have loads of them you know they must be very common. Someone mentioned that the Omaha bank hoard may be having an effect on the market.
"We charge $5.50 plus delivery confirmation and insurance on auctions closing above $100."
Based on his shipping price, I'm thinking he expected the coin to fetch $200.01+. Since it didn't, paying $10.70 to ship a $100 (or so) coin seems excessive. If it had gone past $200, then the shipping fee including insurance wouldn't seems so bad.
