What made me leary of the 1970 set is the Items that he recently purchased. Hint: Check his feedback and click the Item link from a recent seller. Which leads me to believe that a 1955 Proof set is in the offing!

Actually no. I think it's a legit account. What i think i s "hinky" aobut all this is the fact that the seller will be unscrupuously peddling wares that are tempting to buyers. The temptation is that a buyer might accidentally latch onto to a mint set with a rare valuable coin (e.g. 1970 "unopened" and "unsearched' may yield the rare 1970S small date worth a modest premium). But when I look at this eBayer's recent buys and I notice a 1955 U.S. Proof coin envelope without the coins, then I become suspicious about the seller's intentions. Especially where the Seller is promoting an "unopened" 1970 U.S. Mint set, which alludes to the possibility of landing a rare 1970S small date cent.
This is a scam. The buyer, unawares, is thinking that he is bidding on an unopened and unsearched mint set. Meanwhile the sller has opened and searched the coins and is maniuplating the auction so as to maximize the bid. This is unfair. The bidder is mislead to believe that he may win a valuable unsearched mint set when the seller already knows that the item has no premium value. The bidder is tempted to up his bid and the seller gains unfair advantage and is comensated by the fact that the buyer is willing to gamble and pay a premium for the unsearched, unopened item.
On eBay this Seller has purchased repro US proof enevelopes which he can insert US Mint cello packages and then seal the envelopes. Next he will list the Uncirculated sets as "Unopened" "original" proof sets. The unknowing bidder will be willing to pay a premium for unsearched sets. Consequently, the scammer has an unfair advantage over the buyer. IMO this is a despicable practice.
