The 1796 to 1807 draped bust dimes averaged about 19.9 mm so they could share reverse dies with gold quarter eagles (heraldic eagle reverse only, six reverse dies were shared). Capped bust dimes have smaller diameters, with close collar strikes having the smallest diameters.

This coin demonstrates that the rims and peripheral legend are usually very weak on 1807 dimes, even on a mint state coin, and particularly on the reverse
This can sometimes lead to undergrading 1807 dimes, a coin with otherwise VG or Fine details still has letters merging with the rim like an AG would
another coin that had a very different existence from the one Russ posted.

Yeah, I didn't think they were ever that big...or that dirty.

I only wish they were mine, but they are way off my affordability index! These are an imaging assignment.
