1942 Toned Walker in a 4th Tier holder... (edit: reduced image size: 300K Image (1200 x 600))

This coin is graded MS-66 in a 4th Tier (NNC) holder. Sold it last week, buyer decided they didn't like it so it's
coming back to me. Wondering what people here think of it

<< <i>MS63 ......... or AU58. Is that a rub on the breast???? >>
Doesn't look like it in hand. And it really is a virtually mark free coin from what I could see/remember. I'll look it over again when I get it. I may send it off to somewhere else for their opinion (probably ANACS if just for cost/speed reasons)

Why did you then? Especially since I have the image screen size and file size right in the title?
<< <i>It is tough to grade from an image that size. >>
Constructive criticism noted and heeded. I shrunk the image to 1200x600 300K
<< <i>MS64 nice original coin.
Beat me to it.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
After seeing the coin in hand did the buyer think the stacking mark on the breast was wear?
The image of the obverse doesn't make me eager to jump at this coin, but I bet it looks great in hand. The reverse looks to have an attractive toning pattern, and appears well struck.

Don't know. He just said he didn't like it and was going to return it.
Sorry, but that's what I see.
<< <i>How are you guys arriving at MS63, 64, or, say, 65? I see a pretty limited number of hits, which I think would allow a high grade. Are you looking at strike? Surface condition, or luster? >>
that stacking rub or wear pretty much limits the grade.

I agree with 291fifth. The coin shows wear on the high points, and I couldn't call it uncirculated.
There is a point where I would take away from the grade for unattractive toning, and this coin would qualify, in my opinion. Consequently, I would probably evaluate this one as AU53.
If the toning were attractive (in my opinion), I might give it a higher grade, but it would still not be uncirculated.
I knew it would happen.
