how'd I do?

ebay

Certainly higher than a 63, and if it is 64 I broke even. Looks like it has a chance at 65, as long as the pictures don't lie

The fields in the lower-right corner of the reverse look weird to me. Otherwise, nice coin!

I thought the same thing, but it is probably just a milk spot.

The reverse has an odd, stain-like pattern to it that would worry me as well as what appears to be a decent sized scratch running next to the eagle's left (viewer's right) wing. However, it is truly impossible to know for sure because of the apparent compression of the image.

If you are happy with it, that's all that counts.

I would have to say, for the price and date/mm I wouldn't have gone for it. And yes....after going through some layering aspects of the pic....there is some shennanigans....if you look up from the "Milk spot" there is some extreme pitting possibly lamination but someones touched the pic up...

Coin looks nice, but.... That is the $44 question, isn't it?

I have some doubts about that one, just as the others have mentioned.... but good luck with it...

The picture leaves the door open for doubt. The worst you could have done is to pay 5 or 6 bucks too much. No big deal--enjoy owning the coin!

What does bug me about the auction is that the seller spent 3 long paragraphs going on and on about the inconsistencies in TPG grading. Why mention that at all? It only serves to make one suspicious. At this price level, grading is not too likely.

Amateur opinion: If the pictures are right, it is a 65 if not for the teardop gouge below the eye. You just don't see higher than PCGS 63 with marks on the cheek. Anywhere but the cheek.
