Well, first of all, 1776 S bi-centennial halves came only in proof (clad & silver). Hence the obvious mechanical error on the PCGS label. I just recently bought a 76 S silver PCGS69DCAM for $23.

    So, to answer your question.............Yup........Rick

  • I still do not see the problem. The 76-S MS68 has a value of $315.00 in the PCGS guide.
Are you saying that the coin in question is a proof?
  • 21Walker21Walker Posts: 1,762 ✭✭✭
No not thinking it is a proof. Just didn't realize they made the 'S' mintmark in UNC..........Rick

Even at $195, it is still a good price.

A year ago they were bringing $500. But, that was a temporary price spike that settled back down very quickly.

Well, I wouldn't pay more than $10 for one of these. But that's just me.

Go buy some that grade MS68 for that, and I'll double your money. No limit.

I simply don't collect this type of plastic fantastic. For something like this that's readily available in quantity in relatively-high-though-not-"super"-grades, a nice raw coin with good eye appeal will do it for me just fine, thanks.

But I'll take all the certified 63RB early Lincolns I can get my hands on if you have any to spare. image

I would have thought this particular coin would have been a little nicer in the fields for a 68 but I am used to looking at proofs.

  • Curious. Didn't know they made business strike silver halves.
