Has anyone heard/seen/read anything good from reporting phishing scams?

I have not seen one report that eBay/Paypal has done anything to stem the phishing scams generated from their sites. Has anyone?

Me either...I get several a week and forward them to spoof@ebay/PayPal, and all I get is the same automated response. I filed a complaint w/eBay over a year ago because I had gotten over 50 in a month, and I still got what looked like an automated response. I also went through a phase where I would go to the phishing sites and fill in the name, password, and credit card number with a string of obscenities directed at the scammer and his/her mother. They got smart, though- you can't submit info any more without a real credit card number. I'm betting eBay's take on this is that they have protection- putting your real name in their emails, and their eBay toolbar (which to me is just adware), and to them that's enough. My one question: The automated reply always says that the phising email has been reported to the proper authorities. Who are they, and who does the reporting?

I don't even bother reporting them anymore, I doubt that ebay/paypal takes the time to deal with them anymore.

The scammers work a lot harder then the "proper authorities". I want a job as a "Proper Authority". image

I doubt if fleeBay or PayupPal does any thing about phishing; if they spent time and money on investigating these it would hurt thier bottom line!
