Washington Dollar Plain Edge Rising on ebay
The small window of opportunity to buy these at $50 on ebay has seemed to close. Yestersday there were BINs for $50.00. Rising fast in the $200 range now with closing bids today. Will they ever come down again to $50? The ebay sellers are getting smart and holding out for more it seems. Something to do with PCGS's announcement about these.

<< <i>Boy that happened fast. Are any selling at these new levels? Seems this morning you could still get them for $50. Maybe the main stream news article did it. >>
Yeah they are selling. They were running at $300 until a bunch of single coin auctions closed within a few minutes; holding now near $200 I expect they will go back close to $300 tonight then settle back some tomorrow. I think these level are too high; I think the fifty bucks was low but what do I know I just found a few in bank rolls I ain't no expert.

<< <i>Wow, guess I will have to go through my brick sooner than later. What are my chances with $1000 worth to go through? >>
I went the a bunch of those bricks and found zero, then a bunch in one brick. Totally random.

Is that BIN or reserve?
Also I just looked and damn, of 458 auctions I bet 400 of them are for possible errors (you buy a roll) and that upside down crap.
I was thinking so many upside downs are out there i should list some right side up ones and say
LOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2007 Dollar
The real scarce one!!!!! Everyone has ERRORS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have the corrected version................10.00

<< <i>Look quick! You better make sure you got a smooth edge example and not an upside down crapola piece.

Yeah it's a shame, I reported this to Ebay customer service but they don't want to hear it. Still folks are hitting my BIN at $200 so I am happy.
At around 5PM I went back to E-bay and the $100 coins, as few as they're were, they were gone. The next level was $150 and only a few at that level, they sold very fast within minutes. One girl has feedback of 2 and had around a roll up for sale, almost all sold for between $200-$325. Seemed like the speed was picking up fater than Superman could fly. I considered myself lucky and got one for about $160. I know, stupid me wasting my money on a raw piece of modern crap that's being hyped as much as the AGE gold, silver and platinum sets. Bought them all too by the way. Still have every silver and platinum coin. I figured I better one now as the price seemed, at least temporarily, good? Considering the same coins were $50 this AM, less than $100 an hour before. At this point they were over $200 and still climbing. As I sit her at 1 AM, the last 10 coins have sold for an average of about $275, from a low of about $245, to a high of $348.
Where will it stop? No one knows for sure. But, I think tomm will bring a slow down of sorts in the price rise, perhaps a small correction may occur as more people will hear of the high prices and search for, and find more and place them up for sale. The sellers are from all over the country, but, there seems to be a higher number of sellers from Fla with the smooth edge errors. I have mine now, so, I can wait for it to show up, look at it for a few seconds, and place it in a flip, then into the black hole that seems to swallow my coins up. It doesn't deserve the bank vault, yet. Maybe if it gets slabbed, and the value actually goes up it will find itself there.
Will these coins be the next 55 DDO? No one knows but, there are a lot of people on both sides saying yes and no. A lot of the yes people are the ones selling, especialy at these levels. They would be dumb to say otherwise. BUT, consider this, this is the first issue of this new coin. The new dollar coins historically don't fare very well in circulation. BUT, the mint is getting a LOT of free press from this error and that will fuel the fire. People see the state quarters they collect and have joined in collecting coins now as a result. In a way they may have played a small part in my coming back. They will see a new series coming and their quarter set almost done. Now they will have a new project to keep them going. It only takes a dollar to fill a hole and they can stay with the new series at a very affordable price. This error, whether intentional or not, will spark an interest in people wanting to get the coins to look for the errors. They will spend them along the way back to the bank, and may actually keep a few in their car because they are easy to keep and convienent, so they may actually circulate. PCGS will, or already has, recognize this eror and WILL slab them. NGC already has. This will encourage the dollar collectors, and, the error collectors to obtain one or more for their collections. Plus, there will always be the speculators. Can't forget about them. Not that there's anything wrong with that. They will be buying and selling the errors, holding on to some for the future to see if they will be worth more. They will also be buying the rolls to search. Both from the local banks, and, from E-bay and other sources to search through. Of course I could be wrong, perhaps they will find a few million and they will only be worth $1, but it's a gamble for now. Good luck to all whom have got theirs already and happy hunting to those that are still searching! Ray
The publicity may also encourage circulation of the dollar coins. People will buy and open rolls that might have otherwise remained sealed, to search for plain edge coins. Some of the regular edge dollar coins will then get spent, as an alternative to re-rolling the coins and re-depositing them.
