Winning bidders with ZERO feedback

Don't you guys get that sinking feeling whenever your auctions are won by zero feedback bidders? I do.

Actually, no. Every zero feedback bidder I've had has paid promptly, and many of them have been willing to bid higher than more experienced eBay bidders.

just don't ship until the payment clears. you were once a 0 feedback bidder (or seller). i would be more hesitant bidding on a seller with 0 feedback as opposed to a 0 feedback buyer, you're in the drivers seat.

We'll see. A month ago, a zero bidder who won one of my auctions was NARU'd
shortly thereafter. An auction that finished yesterday was won by a zero
bidder, but has yet to pay. I had six other auctions completed yesterday and
they have already all paid. I know it's just one day, but it makes me leery.

I've had more problems with feedback < 5 than at zero, once they get up to 10, they seem more reliable.

Nope. They sometimes need a little extra handholding, but I've never had any trouble with them.

The ones that really scare me are the ones in the 10-20 range. That's when a lot of eBayers flame out.

Actually it's more like pessimism.

I'm paranoid about other things besides zero feedback deadbeats.

Recently started using that venue for some business . First auction won the guy erased my bid & took lower money. I quickly learned it takes awhile to develope some trust. I sometimes use buy it now. Bid little higher, sell a little lower . Figure it"s a small price to got some level of credibility.

I've always felt flattered when someone wanted a coin of mine so much, that they finally felt obliged to sign up for ebay in order to bid on it.....

I have more issues with veteran bidders who don't respond to my emailed invoices and payment instructions..... and then a week later request, through ebay, payment instructions.........

if they were bidding on a $500 item, I might be concerned, but not a $20 item. Plus a lot of zero feedback buyers go out of their way to be exemplary trading partners to help turn that zero into a one. Besides, worst case if they flake is you lose a little time -- you're not out money (you file an NPB and relist) or the coin (you don't ship until payment clears).

I will be concern if he/she won my $5000 item. Other than that, I'll give him/her a chance because everyone started at 0.

Even with a $5000 item, if they paid with Postal Money orders, I am not concern.

It only takes a couple of times to get the hang of ebay bidding and the payment process. But some need more time especially 0 feedback, I started there and so did everyone else.

I have had both kinds(good and bad) of experience with new Ebayers. Just recently had 2 new ebayers bid and when not paid after a week say they had no money....I think it may be a new scam to get some free stuff. They get a new ebay ID... bid and win a boatload of auctions and hope some of them ship before payment.

I dont think I would be too concerned with someone that has 0 feedback, as we all know that one time or another anyone who has an ebay account starts at zero. I also think that a person who has just started buying or selling on ebay would not want to take a chance of having negative feedback placed on them and then basically having a -1 feedback rating.

I always have EBAY send me Contact information for ZERO bidders - SO I have Phone number and Town and State where they live.
Just in case you DIDnt know , If ANY one EVEN bids on your item, you are entitled to the contact information NOT just when the auction is over.
A Lot of people do not know this.

I sell some cars on EBAY - The ZEROS are the best bidders

bidding up the price .... but you have to be careful - Especially with autos.

Keep in mind also THEY GET your information so it might push them into completing the auction KNOWING that the seller now has thier contact information as it is sent BOTH ways.

Hell yes. In fact, earlier this week I had to file a NPB because three weeks past and the guy never paid. He checked out, in ebay, like he paid, but subsequent email were never answered. I even emailed him BEFORE the auction ended to confirm his interest and good intentions because him and another zer0 were bidding back and forth and he assured me his intentions were good. I guess he was lying.

I realize we all started at zer0 one time, but the next time something like this happens I'm cancelling all zer0s and blocking them before the auctions close.

I grow tired of hearing the old "everyone started at o". Well we aren't there anymore becuase we've proved ourselves as reliable and responsible. I would venture to say that 80% or more of zero's never pay then 2 days later are no longer registered users or their 3 year old grandson bid on your coins accidentally.

As they say, "Trust, but verify". As long as it is not a high dollar item, zero bidders do not send off alarms for me.

I get much more nervous when I bid on a zero feedback auction!

If a bidder fails to pay, you are out the listing fees, and those can be recouped with an Ebay non-payer form. Everyone has to start someplace and I imagine that a new Ebay bidder would more likely like to develop positive feedback instead of ruining it with the very first Ebay auction win.

No, I treat them just like everyone else; I don't send the coin until I have confirmed payment.
And if it's a PayPal payment I empty the account so they can't do a charge back!

It's not only uneasiness over possible non-payment but often, when checking a seller's feedback before I bid on his item, I've noticed that his one negative in the last month or two was from a 0-5'er who obviously had unrealistic expectations regarding the item they bought, the shipping time, or just how the whole eBay system works, so they zapped the poor seller with an undeserved neg'.

Exactly. If you're not going to ship the coin until you get payment (and unless you know the buyer why would you, regardless of feedback), who cares if this guy has zero feed back?

I only once had a bad feeling. It was for coins worth $1300. I got out of it because he wasn't confirmed by Pay Pal or verified. By the time he was, it was too late.

Yes, if I am going to have a problem it will almost always be from a new ebayer. On the other hand, we all have to start somewhere, and it is just as likely that person may be a new loyal customer.

Hahahaha... so they cant do a chargeback???

Just why I dont have paypal anymore... I went with everything as planned. The seller said the items were not as I described them (how hard is it to describe car parts?) and filed a report. Paypal put my account -$2200 or so... I tried and tried to explain it to them. Showed them the shipping receipts, it was shipped to a confirmed address, ect... but simply because the customer did a chargeback on his credit card (which we all know he will win no matter what) paypal hit my account for it. Closed my account, and turned me into a collection agency, where I finally gave in and paid it to save my credit.

Dont think taking the funds out saves you... trust me on this.

That exact reason is why I will NEVER use any type of online payment form. Check or M/O for me... buying, or selling.

I agree!!
I had 3 NPB's in one week, all with feedback around 15ish. One was even a BIN!

They seem to blow their money on the earlier things they win and their funds are dry by the time they bid on your item(s).
