Got my 1st half dime, 1832 Raw. Opinions please.

Here it is, not sure about the grade. I got it as an AU.
On the reverse are several die breaks, can anyone attribute this one??
I just noticed that there is something over the "E" that is not on the coin. It must be fuzz.
I will try to take another picture.

Thanks for your help everybody

<< <i>unfortunately, I can't view photobucket photos from my workplace (ISP blocks them). Pictures notwithstanding, I'll go out on a limb here and attribute your coin as an 1832 LM-5, an R-1 die marriage. I look forward to seeing the pics when I get home. >>
Good guess. It is indeed.
Very nice die state with a very thick crack running from rim to T to scroll, across scroll to A1 and back to rim. This eventually breaks even farther and becomes a retained cud. I'd assign a grade of XF to your coin and a crust factor of A+. This die marriage is most fun and educational.
Pics for Barndog.
If you want to maintain that coin in your collection, I see no need to put it in a slab. A 2x2 or your preferred holder will do. Consider that slabbing it will cost something like $18 plus shipping, minimum. Add to that the variety designation (I think that's $15) and you are looking at a slab worth 25% the value of the coin inside...not a favorable ratio IMO
Thanks for the pictures, I like the coin!

You sometimes get lucky, and get a grade better than you thought you had.

Or do you mean a grade better than the coin deserves?
Sorry, couldn't resist...you all know it happens all the time.
I picked up a few myself from a family two weeks ago, that were never collected by a collector, but merely passed down thru generations. It was nearly a complete date set of Capped, and a few Seated(s). I sent the 3 or 4 best ones to ANACS, sold 2 locally , and the others went to E-bay raw as the value wasnt high enough to substatiate submissions costs.
