Silver Proof Sets 2007

I just talked to a supervisor at the Mint to cancel my Presidential Proof Set. She told me all the proof president coins will be in the Silver Proof Sets this year. I didn't realize this.

  • She also told me the only way to get Sacagawea coins is at the Post Office in their machines. I didn't know that either. With Sacagawea and four Presidents, it will be a very large set.
  • She told you that rolls of Sacs weren't to be sold this year?
  • You can't get them in banks.

However, the questions remains unanswered as to whether they will be in silver or in the usual manganese-brass.

If they don't make them in Silver, after 2009, the 'Silver' set will contain 7 coins NOT silver and 3 coins silver. Kind of ridiculous to call that a silver set.

If they are not silver, don't include them in the silver set, as a matter of fact, don't include them in any sets. They can be bought as a single set if the customer wants them.

This way if you want one of everything, you buy a proof set, a silver proof and proof Prez. Simple enough, no wasted money. Otherwise I will have two sets of Prez proofs.

    Correcto mundo!

As a matter of fact, 2002 was the last year you could get Sacky Jawackies in banks as they only produced enough for the US Mint Roll sets. (7, 597,610 total Mintage) The same holds true for 03, 04, 05, and 06.

I feel confident that the same will hold true for 2007. The Product Schedule states: March 20 Golden Dollar Bags and Rolls . Golden Dollar always refers to the Sacajawea as the Presidential Dollars are, well..........Presidential Dollars.

You can order boxes of current small dollars from the banks but they will consist of 2000 Sac's, possibly an occasional 2001 and SBA's. The Post Office Stamp vending machines dispence the same. It is also possible to receive or get an 03, 04, 05, and 06 in the public domain but pretty unlikely.

As far as the Silver Proof Sets? I'm thinking the Presidential coins will be the mayonnaise composition just like the Sac's in the past have been.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
