Selling on Teletrade questions....

I have a bunch of stuff I am thinking about clearing out (mostly stuff accumulated over the years--I want to start focusing on quality vs. quantity) and I am thinking about going the Teletrade route. A couple of questions:

1. Is this a better method than selling about 30 coins on Ebay?

2. How long before you are paid. On Teletrade it says about 30 days? Is that accurate?

Offer them on the Buy, Sell, Trade forum first if you kinda know what you're expecting to get for them. No fees for the buyer or seller...

Alot of people on these here boards would LOVE to have a chance at your stuff before it hits the big open market........

Go with the BST forum. I've sold several items this way and they went quick!

One advantage to belonging to these boards is the fact you can aquaint yourself with a small number of collectors that specialize in your interests. As a result, you may have a ready list of potential buyers when it comes time to sell.

I have sold at least eight coins this way and have purchased another six. Unfortuanately, it takes some time to identify these people.

TT pays around 30 days after auction

takes a couple weeks after they get coins to be auctioned

they take decent photos

downside is without reserves, some get away cheap

also coins may be returned by seller and then relisted which adds 3-5 weeks for payment on that lot

hardest part is putting them all together to send them

with buyers premium and shipping, coins should probably be worth $50+

if you have time and photo ability eBay is also decent option, as well as BST

List them on the BST for a week or so and see if you get bites. The advantages include starting at a set price, no buyer or sellers fee, and instant/ almost instant money. Anything you dont sell you could then auction off.

The minimum buyer's and seller's fees at Teletrade ($8 and $5, respectively) make it unattractive to sell low-value coins (e.g. <$50). However, I like that they do all the work and I have taken advantage of their reduced-fee special offers to sell off coins.
