I don't own this one (belongs to Islandcoins) , but this is what I consider to be a true blue Moose:

Taking into consideration a tough date/mintmark for toning, for an 1878-CC, this is a moose...

This one really should be RE SUBMITTED image an absolute NO BRAINER !
edit to add: even with the gouge in liberty's eyebrow it's much nicer than a 62.

I dunno, it's a proof. I would bet at an angle you might just see a lot of harsh hairlines accounting for the grade.

I think you will find that Island coins pictures are very close, if not right on to what his coins will look like. This is not hear say as I have owned several coins that have been for sale on his site in the past, and all were a true representation of what the coins looked like in hand.
If It doesn't have great eye appeal, I don't want it.

    Stuart,

That's a beautiful coin. I've begun looking at proof Morgans. I looked at my first batch at the Long Beach Show.
Why is that only graded a 62? Assuming accurate images that looks to be a much higher grade.

I saw a PCGS cameo pf 65 go for 55k. Unbelievable coin. I'm still kicking myself not going for a 63 cameo that
    was in my price range.

I.m just curious on what that coin is worth, I have a similar one without the toning and not slabbed. But it is in extremely fine condition.

Thanks for the several comments that I have received on my 1898 PCGS Proof 62 Cameo Morgan Dollar that I posted earlier on this thread.

I should first give proper photo credit to fellow forum member Jason Stevens (JBSteven), from whom I purchased this coin several years ago. I immediately fell in love with this (my only proof Morgan) because of the great eye appeal for a Proof 62, which is strongly enhanced by the beautiful blue and brown peripheral toning.

In reply to your requests, please see the second set of photos that I have posted below which accentuate the contact marks and hairline scratches, to complement the original set of photos which better demonstrate the beautiful toning of this coin.

I hope that this additional information is helpful to those who are curious about the coin's Proof 62 Cameo grade. I feel that the coin certainly has better than Proof 62 eye appeal, but that it's probably technically graded about right.

Someone walked into the local coinshop with the biggest Morgan Moose I have ever seen, it was mind numbingly outstanding! It also had one of the old ANA paper photo certs form the 80's with it.

I will request he bring it back for a photo op, you folks will freak!

Here is one of those 1892-O Morgans. You know, the ones that have notoriously flat strikes and are never found prooflike.
