Very nice landscape pictures, especially the Route 341 panoramic of Reno (first photo) and the view of Lake Tahoe. Was the fourth photo taken at Silver City, south of Virginia City?

I only see pictures of Northern Nevada, so I take it you spent more time there than Southern Nevada?

4th photo was taken in Virginia City

I only spent time in Northern Nevada (and picked up some nice coins from Northern Nevada Coin). I did have a flight transfer though in Las Vegas so I guess I did spend some time in southern Nevada image

Correct.... this is the Carson City Mint and Museum.....

A MUST SEE if you can make it..... I LOVED it when I was there......
  • PS: I had picked up some great souvenirs there too... at the gift shop..... but I don't think they have as much now.,.......
  • A few years ago, you could have picked-up more and better souvenirs for the CC Mint. I've been there four times and each time they have less. Plenty of books, but not much in the the way or silver bars and rounds. Virginia City has lots of little crap to buy. It's a cool place!

If I remember correctly, AND if it's still there (it's been several years)... There is a coin dealer directly across the street from the CC Mint......

Very nice. I love ghost towns out here in the West. Growing up bombarded with westerns probably romanticized them a bit.

  • As my names says: Bodie, CA
The best Ghost town in the U.S. Check: bodie.com it's a bit south of the CC area.

And..north of Reno is Pyramid Lake

Check: travelnevada.com to request info. Good stuff!!

The Carson City Mint hosts a coin show in September. It's actually a decent show to attend.

Visiting Virginia City is a must for everybody and the YN's will love it. Lake Tahoe is arguably the most scenic lake in the U.S. The gaming industry aside, downtown Reno is also worth a stroll or two.

Take a drive around Lake Tahoe, it is not very numismatic but worth it nevertheless
