Coins on Train Tracks

As a kid, we used to put pennies and nickels on the tracks when a train was coming.

Best case would:
1) Be found
2) Be smoothly and totally elongated
3) Have the image still visible

Middle case would:
1) Be found
2) Be partially or not at all elongated, or dented

Worst case would:
1) Not be found.

Iran has obtained the technology to produce nuclear fuel and Iran's move is like a train ... which has no brake and no reverse gear," Ahmadinejad said. Who wants to ride a train with no brake?

  • Yes I think we probably all have done that with coins as children but what has IRAN have to do with it?

If you add a "T" and rearrange the letters of Iran you have train.image
I also paid 50 cents plus a penny yesterday to squash the penny into a snake design at the zoo.

Interesting. I was at a coin show today and while looking through a box of World coins, the 5 for a $1 type coins, I saw a flattened US Half Cent. It surely looked like it was run over by a train. I was kidding with the seller that it should be put on eBay with a description telling how it was placed on the tracks so that Lincoln's 'death' train could runover it.

I have put Lincoln cents on railroad tracks as a kid, the railroads frown on that kind of thing of course.

A US attack on Iran looks inevitable at this point, just a matter of when Bush decides to do it.

I try to smash a penny every time I visit The Grove in West Hollywood. They have a trolly car there - it doesn't smash them as good as a real train, but it does do some damage. It's tough to do though so that no one sees what you are up to.

Used to stack them and get designs blending. Tried to made crude die-like inverses that sort of way too. It was definitely part of growing up back then. Close calls a couple times that still send shivers up my spine. Today with those quiet passenger trains, it would be pretty risky.

Here's one for risk! I think the tracks are monitored, so you would also risk arrest!

300 Kilometers per Hour that 186 MPH! We rode this to Paris.

Found this one last year while metal detecting in my backyard ( I live in an old train depot and old tracks were out back)- someone didn't find it after getting run over! I think you could make out it was a memorial cent because the "of" was just barely visible around border still on reverse. Found the old canadian penny nearby.
