A couple upgrade Barbers for my 7070

I like the look of both. First is a 1898 quarter second is a 1916 dime. Although I am having a terrible time imaging the dime. Lets start with the quarter. Opinions sure welcome. Dime to follow soon, I hope.

What's going on under the M in DIME on the reverse down there?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

You need to be more selective. Both coins are sub-par, especially the quarter, which has far too many marks. I would have passed on both.

Nice work. Now, need a half to go with those? image

I semi-agree with 291fifth. The quarter is an ok piece. The dime looks unattractive and the damage under the M could have been avoided for a small amount of money.

I didn't even notice that until you mentioned it. That looks like a huge crater. Luckily, it is a fleck of dirt and able to be taken care of with an air can. Although now it has a lighter looking area there. I updated the photo in the original post.

Other then the fact that my photography skills really bite, I can certainly see based on the pictures that these look pretty poor. I picked both of these for the amount of detail on the coins and coloring which does not show at all. There are so many out there that are bright white and just don't look right.

    And the half is next.

purchases for a 7070 are personal preference, with so many factors to consider that I don't consider anyone's purchases to be inappropriate. If you like the detail and look of a coin for the 7070, then that's the one to buy.
  • I like the crust look these have so many are dipped to death I say good find.

  • I agree with barndog that the type album is a personal preference. And coin photography can really be difficult with the lighting, especially through the slab.

By the way, how did you blow the dirt off through the slab? image

Actually both are raw and I just have them sitting on 1/2 a plastic 2x2 for picture taking.
