just got my first 2 shotgun rolls from the bank, Im going to open them up.
I dont expect to find anything but a scowling washie looking back at me image

    My YN and I opened up a roll from the mint last night - 4 coins that might go 63 or so, the rest spenders. I think I wasted the premium in an attempt to get nicer coins.image

    I picked up one roll at the bank today. The coins on the end didn't look so great. I am hoping for better when I open the roll.

    he looks totally miserable.

    went through all of 'em, no perfect examples, all edge lettered. tell you what, I like the look of a bunch of gold colored coins. I think they're interesting, but no more interesting than the sacs.


    maybe Im not cut out for the coin game, I have no desire to search through tons of coins to find perfect examples to pay to have graded looking for a subjective perfect grade to resell to the next guy. does that make me any less a numismatist ? or just a lesser customer to a TPG ?

    I picked up 10 rolls at Grand Central Terminal on first day of issue.
    I sent 4 in for first day slabbing at PCGS with MS65 min. so I wind
    up with more then a couple graded. Of the remaining 6 rolls I found
    3 nice coins I may send in for grading later. The rest I have been
    actively spending around town. image

    that's a good point !! I should make it a point to spend the next $50 in those dollars just to spread the wealth !

    I forgot. I have twin 9 year old sons and they were doing reports on presidents for
    school the day the coins were issued. My first stop with the coins was to their school
    so they could hand one coin out to each child in their class (19). I felt this would expose the
    children to something them might not otherwise see. Well the teachers were as interested
    in the coins as the kids and my children had to bring in a handful more for the teachers that
    asked for one. One teacher paid a dollar and asked for one for her coin collecting grandson. image

    ...why not teach your sons business and charge the teacher $1.10? It is less than what the mint wants.

    I just opened 2 rolls, and I would not even consider submitting any, they all have some sort of problems. I am enjoying spending them though. I bought some girl scout cookies from some girls in front of the grocery store, and I can't believe how excited they were to get the new coins.
