"First Strikes" on NGC 2006-w gold?

Is this for real? Does NGC have another special label?

First Strikes

Jeeze, this complicates the spreadsheet....

For 2007 they are using the term Early Releases
    Trade $'s
  • This is a 2006-W Early Release is what has been on the market...What the BeJesus is this?

  • I have a few minutes to work on the spreadsheet....is this a new category or not?

    Thanks!\FloridaBill
  • He listed under 2006 w but I don't see a w listed on NGC's holder... Must be a reg bullion unc.
  • Bill, Those are the coins that got the label before PCGS alerted everyone of the Trademark grant.

It looks like this coin is the Reg Bullion Coin (Non-W mintmark).
  • NGC only uses the term on bullion.

I think the seller used the "W" mintmark to hype his coin. Nowhere in the holder it says "W". What a "W"ise guy!!! image

Good call, I wonder if the buyer will notice.

It's a bait & switch listing tactic. Issued by NGC before the First Strike controversy boiled over. It's not a Satin Finish "W". No need for a new spreadsheet item.
