<< <i>I like the toning, but the coin has some nasty hits on the obverse. >>
They don't look that bad in person, even using a 10x.

<< <i>What's the story on all the diagonal lines running up and down the face, neck and field before bust? >>
A couple are on the holder the rest are light hairlines.
Nice coin and tone.........better date a big plus.
I'm on the 58 boat.

Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
Commems and Early Type
PCGS AU55 (if those hairlines aren't too dramatic). If the hairlines are very heavy as they appear in the photo, they would BB for cleaning.
NGC AU58 (I can't imagine any service putting this coin in an UNC holder).

I like it alot. But it's an AU 62. Strike and toning is very good, but hairlines and multiple hits takes it out of any Unc grade.

That's my opinion too...thanks Dale (you don't know anything about Barbers do you?)
The grade is ANACS AU-58
The enlarged photo does make the chatter on the coin appear much worse than it is in person.
The coin has very little, if any wear but it does have some handling marks therefore the 58 grade.
