Question/Concern about the NEWP 35S Washington

I picked up this 35-S Washington on ebay. I was shocked, it is a wonderful looking coin that should go 65 or so. While looking at it, there is something going on by the date. Not sure what it is, any ideas? Does it need a dip to stabilize it? Thanks for the help.

That's pretty nasty. If it were mine, I'd soak it in acetone first, and see if it came off. If that failed, I'd dip it. It looks like it's growing. JMO

Anyone else have any opinions. I would really like to save this coin from whats going on. It truely is a really nice example. Under magnification I can only find 3 hits. One on each the B&E in Liberty and a very small one on the cheek. The fields are clean. The rest of the stuff you see I think are on the scanner. Thanks for your help with this. Jim

Damn! That looks like the same stuff that all over some of the 71-S Business strike IKEs! Milk Spotting.

I doubt that any soaks will work but please let us know the outcome.

Thats my opinion which is based purely on speculation and I'm sticking to it!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Just a thought.. I do not think this will go MS 65 givin the picture. MS63 for a weak strike, even for a 35 S. Maybe I am wrong, but based on the picture that is how I see it.

Probably just the scan, I have a couple in 66, and this strike is hammered compared to them. Thanks for the input.
