Toned Lincoln's...will they ever have their day?
With the popularity of the series why is it that toned Lincoln's have basically no value? With almost all of the other series toned coins command a premium and in some cases really big premiums. Even Lincoln's with "monster" toning really don't bring big money. So I guess my question to the boards is.....will they ever bring the money that maybe they deserve? Or should I put mine away forever?
Thanks.

Silver coins do not lose a designation when they possess toning.
Lincoln set Colorless Set
A copper coin with toning gets a downgrade. Go figure.
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
<< <i>Hmmm, Toned Lincolns may not be that popular because in a RB or BN designated slab they are not worth as many points in the registry sets as RD coins are.

Did not know that. Don't do the registry thang. That, however, answers a lot of questions about the OP's correct observations. Thanks.
Amazing, really, to think a gorgeous rainbow wheat would be downgraded
Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
Maybe collectors think they can always strip a silver coin but toned copper is on its way to being corroded.
LeeG, maybe you should be asking for a discount instead of paying a premium
I actually prefer RB and BN Lincolns to those that are all Red - plus I can actually afford some of the keys in the quality that I like.
Some Red examples are outstanding, though!
Thanks NE Numismatics for this one!
