This one just oozes originality, is very PQ for the grade and is a pretty tough date in this grade or higher. Actually got it for a surprisingly decent price, presumably because it was (and is) raw.
So yes, if you know what to look for and you have a discerning eye, you CAN find nice raw stuff even on ebay:
The picture of the 1871 nickel cannot begin to show the strong mirror fields this coin has on the obverse but it does show the heavy die polish lines on the reverse.
I actually bid on this not expecting to win it. Paid a little more than Red Book VF-20 value.
