I just got this 1898-S US $5.00 Gold Coin, I am thinking of submitting it to pcgs.

Guess the Grade & Value?

Its AU, looks AU50-5 to me.

AU, $200-230, probably not worth submitting, certainly not by itself.

Not an Unc. would value around $175-$200. Just a type coin imo.

Looks AU 50 or so, Seen a simalar common date at the last coin show ( 2 weeks ago) I was at, dealer was asking $190 for it. It was AU with smooth clean surfaces.I like mine certified so I'm know i'm not getting a fake.

About AU-53. I think it has been cleaned lightly, and even if it weren't, it's not worth slabbing.

Not all coins need to be slabbed. That's worth repeating. Though I suppose one could make an argument for slabbing most gold just to make sure it's real.
