garden gnome. BTW, the Bag O' Crap has gotten bigger since the start of the VTH. So there are more goodies in it.

It's halftime for VTH III! It's been a great first half so far with many wonderful finds. It's time though to let our diggers take a breather, study their treasure maps, and feast from the pirate's table before starting the second half.

My name is Gary Norris - AKA Bentfork, and I'm your host for the festivities. Hey, hey, hey - no bad mouthing.

Let's have some fun. Below is a picture that I personally selected. Not that one! One further down. I need a caption for it. It's not a great picture, but one worthy of a witty caption. I was planning on pasting in the Eiffel Tower or possibly a garden gnome with his posterior exposed to make it funny. But, a picture doesn't need some half-pint, travel agency dwarf to make funny...if the caption is good.



The rules are -

This contest is open to anyone with or without a detector. The diggers are welcome to participate too, but unfortunately they will only recieve an "Honorable Mention" rather than the prize. Trust me, they don't need the prize.

For the next 48 hours you each may enter only one caption for the picture.

Keep it clean and nothing below the belt. If you wish to include in the caption some of the more notorious members of this message board, feel free to do so. But don't say I made you do it.

The time stamp placed on the thread header starts the 48 hour clock. No entries will be considered after 48 hours has elapsed. You can still post, but unfortunately they will not be considered. Sorry, but we have to get back to the treasure hunt. Remember, only one entry will be considered. If you want to change your caption because you thought of a better one, then edit your original.

I will be judging the best caption and the winner will receive for his or her wit a "Bag O' Crap". Not literally a container of waste from the south end of a horse or lizard or arachnid or crocodilian. What you will receive is a bag of the stuff one would normally find when treasure hunting. This year's VTH excludes trash finds, so the other judges and I agree that since you can't get out and find your own Bag O' Crap, we'll supply it for you. That's so you won't feel totally unaccomplished during the winter months. In it will be odds and ends. Pull tabs, foil, nails, maybe a whatzit. But I assure you all the items were personally found by me and are metallic. None of the money collected for prizes has gone toward this one. Also included, since you usually do find something valuable, are one or more keepers. It's left up to you when you get your Bag O'Crap to decide what to throw out. Be careful though, something might look like crap, and still be treasure. Who knows, you might be able to enter one of the items in the monthly "Best Of" contests. NOT! Look what's been found so far. I know it's just what you wanted. You're welcome.

The winner will be announced when the VTH winners are announced. Your prize will be shipped to you via the absolute slowest possible avenue. Well, it is crap isn't it? Once you have received your Bag O' Crap, post what you found in it. Remember - one man's trash is another man's treasure!
