Where are all of the Kennedy halves?

I was looking at the mintages of Kennedy Half Dollars from the mid 80's up to when the mint started selling them by the bags and rolls. Some of them are over 20 million in some of those years. Where are all of these coins? When I get rolls from the bank most of them are from the 70's and early 80's and circulated. I never get any from the late 90's or early 2000's. Are they just sitting in bags at the Federal Reserve?

I think a lot of them are still in storage at the Mint, which is why they're able to sell them to collectors at a premium price.

Based on experience in evaluating and buying collections, I would say there are many tons of them in non-collectors' accumulations. There are a lot of people who say that if they never see them in change, they must be rare and they hold onto every one they get. If one out of twenty people in the country do this, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. All the circulated halves 1971 and after, I tell people to take them to the bank and cash them in as they are worth only face value. I believe a decent percentage don't do that and still hold onto them.
