1916 Merc Is it too worn to tell if it's a D?

TexastTexast Posts: 1,899 ✭✭✭✭
Most likely a Philly but I don't know enough about the types of mint marks they used on the 16 D's, I realize it may be a pipe dream but I can always hope...
Anyone have advice? image

No "D" to be seen by me and I'm from Denver. BTW, nice 60x image.image

Can you re-do the 60x reverse pic and change the light to get a better look at the mint mark area?
    Philately will get you nowhere....

Try squinting your eyes and standing on one leg. That sometimes works for me.

On the 16-D, there were only 4 reverse dies used, and on all of them the "D" is tucked way up into or near that bottom branch. So you have a P.

The other thing about the 1916-D. On all four dies the mint mark is hammered! You should be able to see them plain as day even on a worn out coin.
