If the Mint is smart

They will insure that there are a continual stream

of pleasent suprises and low mintages that will keep

the avarice of collectors, tintillated. The goose is very plump

and great care must be taken by the Mint not to cook it.

  • Wise old bear. Didn't think you liked Goose.
  • I think the goose may be cooked this year. It seems to me that we are headed for a time period saturated with overpopulated, uninteresting garbage. I am sure there may be a low population surprise here or there but, for the most part, I'm not too excited about stuff in the pipe. The presidents will be interesting and educational for my kids but those will become monotonous after awhile I presume. Peaks and valleys I guess.

Anyway, I seem to be wrong more than right these days so who knows???image

The Mint is smart, they make hundreds of millions every year.
Who other than the Mint makes this kind of money, no one.

There is no top to the profits you can make in modern US Mint products. Soon every buyer of their products will be so rich from flipping current issues that will be able to make offers on that unsold 1913 Liberty nickel. image

Interesting point. Other than the Mint and the BPE, I can not think of any government agency that is a money maker. Typically, the source of funds for the government is confiscation, not industry. Yea for the US Mint I say!

  • Bear, I think this year might be ripe for a few of the "well known" series to be cut short. Just look at the sheer number of offerering this year and the incredible schedule that this must create for production. I expect to see a number of "surprises" beginning this year and perhaps continuing into the next year or two...

Now, if I could only tell which ones they are beforehand ...
