Chop marks

Is there a book or a web site that would tell me the meaning of the chop marks on my 1874 CC trade dollar? I am fascinated by the marks on it but I have no idea what they mean. Any help or references you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is a website out there, but I've lost it. Oreville knows the meaning of many of the chops - you could pm him a picture.

I checked the translation, it reads, "Me love you long time!"

I took Mandarin in college. It definitely says, "He who go to bed with itchy butt, wake up with smelly fingers"

I think it says, "Hey, look! I'm not alone!"

It does not say "me love you long time" so cut it out. It happens to be Cantonese and it says loosely translated "Send more of this modern crap and we will destroy it too" the reverse says something about a "happy ending" but I can't make out the lettering around the edge.

There really isn't anything to "translate". Each chop is from a different bank or merchant, and each one is an abbreviation or representation of said business.

On the left I see an incuse chop for "bun" (en japonais), whic means "literature" or "letter." There's another for "hou", which means "direction." Next to it is "kou" for "company" (in Chinese; Japanese would use it for "public"). Next to it is a different "hou" (or "takara") for "treasure." On the right side is "shou" for "correct", and it's one of the most common chops I've seen so far.

I like the two star-shaped chops on the reverse the most.

    Cool coin!
