War Nickels .... Is this a good deal?

I'm going to Iraq next week and my gift to myself this time out will MAYBE be a war nickel set.

Is this a good price? Slightly high? Way high?

Slightly high is okay. It's a full set and I can get it in one pop.

Way high is never good.

Way low is always good.

I think it is a little high. Those are all very common in those grades. Essentially loosers in that the slabbing costs more than the coins are worth. I think that would be a $100 set, tops.

Still haven't made up your mind?? At this rate, you'll be on the road before you get anything in.
Good luck and keep an eye on those trigger wires.

    Ray,

I intend to stay within the wires although one time I was with our Wing Ops O and he drove past a bunch of signs that said "No This and No That" I asked him if we should be here and he said "I'm the Ops O I can go here". I said "what's this place called" and he said "Red zone" and I said "that doesn't sound good".

No more grand tours in trucks for me.

If you want a set to collect I don't think it's a bad deal at $25 a coin for MS65's.

I sold a P66 set a couple of months ago got $211. Based on that WAY TOO MUCH!

Absolutely not. They are $10-12 coins each when sold as a group. Maybe $15 for the single nicest of the bunch.

depends if you want the PCGS slabs

    greysheet is near $90

raw BU sets on eBay usually go for $55-70 in a nice holder

these can be junky BU to nice GEMS - it is usually hard to tell from pictures

personally I would rather have 4 raw sets and pick the best for 1 to keep and 3 to churn on eBay

MS65's are nice but nothing great - need 66FS or 67 or 67FS before they start getting pricey

calculate what your slabbing fees would be for 11 coins, and it looks like a bargain
but these are slabbing 'mistakes' that are grouped to sell

I say mistakes because the original submitter wanted better than 65's

if you have some time, you probably could get these 11 for under $150 on eBay piecemeal

what are you looking for and what is your time worth?

Bingo....I bought 2 sets raw (for my son and I to pick through) last year....$70-$90 is the range.
I think you should go at it one by one (I was doing that for us but got too anxious and just got all of them at once).

If you are buying slabbed, get 1 by 1. The only other time I haven't done a 1 by 1, I have been disappoiinted in at least 1, or more, coins.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Not a good price. Way too much. Make sure they are full-step

I think that auction is asking too much also. Pass on it is my opinion.

Roger that. I picked up a set in a Capital holder, all nicely matched rim toned beauties for about $76.
