U.S. gold coins, are they overvalued?

Some of U.S. gold coins were not rare(Indian 5, 10 and St Gaudens double eagles). But they are so expensive in higher grades. Do they really worth that much money?

Conditional rarity seems to get many wallets to open up. When the total population of a coin in a high grade is in single digits the wallets open further.
A coin is always worth it's melt value + what you are willing to pay to own it. Some people are just more willing than others.

Stick with true rarity, rather than conditional rarity. Conditionally rare coins are usually overvalued more than truly rare gold.

And they also tend to be more closely tied to gold prices than true rarities.

Apparently the market place disagrees with you.

Certainly the 5, 10 Indians and Saints usually reflect a hefty premium over other gold, but they are the best looking of the bunch IMO.

Yes, as far as my buying US gold, they are overvalued.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

Funny how people ask this question about bullion coins with significant intrinsic value but don't ask it about coins with no intrinsic value like TDNs copper he posted this morning or even silver dollars...How about those Morgans with only $10 worth of silver in them, are they overvalued?
