Has anybody used Teletrade ?

I was wondering if anyone has used Teletrade and what do you think about the results? The process? The Fees? Do you seem to get more money on ebay or Teletrade? Thanks for the feedback.

I'm no expert, but I think that if no one used it, there wouldn't be a Teletrade, so I'm going to go with, Yes, someone used it, I would go so far as to say that at least someone is still using it.

It's been around since the late 80's. Used to be sight unseen, just brief written descriptions of lots ("brilliant, above average strike, a few marks"

) in a weekly brochure, you had to call them on the phone. Join up and try it out, best way to get a feel for it.

I like Teletrade. Better than E-Bay for the most part.

I buy a coin occasionally from Teletrade. If the price is right (with the buyers premium factored in) I see no problem with them. Shipping has always been pretty good.

Used them a few times. I have had, for the most part, a good experience with them. Enlarge the photos with DjVu and view carefully.

Just remember that there is a buyer's fee of $8.00 per coin & sales tax for California residents. Shipping & Handling is $4.25 for 2 coins. I've used them a few times and was pleased with the service. The coins usually ship the next business day and I usually receive them just 2 days after the auction (I'm about 20 miles from them). You won't know immediately upon the close of the auction what you've won (like ebay), it may take half an hour or more. I think there are much better deals there, as a whole, than on ebay.

Both are good for different things, for both sellers and buyers. Teletrade is a reliable place to buy and sell. You just need to know the rules and bid on what you see not what you think you see as the image resolution leaves a little bit to be desired. (Aren't we spoiled in this information age?) A few basic things to know. (1) Reserves are not public information but do ease in over the course of the auction. By 4pm PST you can bid safely knowing you will not be bidding against a reserve. Take the later price as the open. (2) Don't even bother trying to snipe in the closing seconds. The status updates on lots are not immediate anyway. What you'll end up doing is get a network hand and no confirmation in time. (3) The auction does not end at 7:00:00pm PST. It ends at 7:00:59pm PST. If you want to snipe, I suggest doing it around 6:58 at the latest and at least a minute sooner if there is some promotion like free shipping. (4) Results are available about 15 minutes after the auction closes. You can get them via account info for that auction number. It will say it is an invalid auction until the results are up though. You can also get them (and bid) the old fashioned way, by telephone.
