Opinion's needed on this IHC

I picked this up on auction, coin was discribed as dark. Dark, it's blackimage
I've seen brown, pink, red, but what could have made this black, besides shoe polish. I know the photo's not the best, my camera onlys wants to shoot silver coins.

    Could be recolored?


    Coin looks as if it has a lot of detail.

    Don't know what you'd call the damage, but it's 100% not original...

    Looks at least close to MS. What a horrible thing to do to an IHC...
    Spare your best friend's life!! Adopt an adult dog at your local "kill" animal shelter. You will be changed.

    Possibly buried and then given some oil bath. There's not a thing you can "do" to a cent like that to make it look any better. However, you could make it look worse. And why bother? It's just an '89 - find a nicer one.

    I think it is a beauty the BLACK toning I mean. I love toners, I think I have saw 3 coins toned black in all the years I have collected. I have a Bust Halve in PCGS AU50 now that is completely back. I always
    thought my Halve may have been in a fire somewhere and soot cooked onto the coin. The same theory might apply to this coin as well?? image Al
