What does this mean to you about RARE coins

I received a one page newsletter today which contained the following; Two major factors affecting the US dollar a what will subsquently affect the RARE COIN and WORLD Coin markets.
UN Sanctions aon the IRAN govenment- Iran retaliated and stopped accepting US dollars and will only accept EUROS for Oil siteing a difficulty business was having with this Iran decides to change all assests into EUROS
Dubai also anounce that their government will diversify a large percentage of their assets or holding of US dollars into EUROS. Gradually over the next few months.
MERRILL LYNCH annocued it has a coin fund investment 14.1 percent of the AVARAE Global Coin fund on behalf of pension fund clients. Based on past history this HEDGE FUND WILL AQUIRE ONLY ULTRA RARITIES.

Now, the company goes onto say NO BULLION, NO GENERIC OR "COMMON" coins will be invested in.
Biggest news in rare coin market since the invention of certified coins in past 20 years. my i.e. PLASTIC
Now this well know company is willing to take our/my bullion or common stuff and change it into ULTRA RARITIES.

In ending they say that they feel THIS WILL POSITIVELY AFFECT CERTIFIED RARE US AND WORLD COINS for YEARS TO COME.

Discern this for me? Define rare? If only Ultra Rare then how is the WHOLE U S and World rare coin market to be affected? I guess everything from $5K to 10K is common? Do you see a double speak in any of this? What do you guys make of these kinds of Newsletters? Try to skip the obvious of drumming up business any constructive thoughts appreciated. Regards, Michael

Such funds have been there before and will, no doubt

be there in the future. Some made money and some didnt.

Since the coin market is so much larger today, this Fund will

have even less effect then the non effect such funds have

had in the past. Further, I would not invest in any such fund.

After you figuere in the 15 % buyers fee, the 10% Consultant fee

and probably the 5% -10% Fund fee, that is quite a large nut to crack

in order to make a profit. It appears to be a house of cards, erected

on a rickity table, standing on structuraly questionable floor. Somewhere

in the fine print, after the 5th read thru, you will find all sorts of hidden

charges, costs, fees and caveats. ....RUN AWAY!

It means someone wasted some time reading a newsletter that might contain 25% information, and 65% misinformation or isolated facts taken out of context (similar to the person quoting an isolated section of the Constitution to say that gold and silver coins are the only legal ones) and 10% pure hyperbole [bs].

What it means to me, is that there is at least one more person, possibly many more, who may have read the same piece that may be willing to buy or sell coins on the basis of what in my opinion is poor information.

The Avarae team seems capable enough. For all it's worth, I haven't seen them buy a single US coin yet. Their focus is completely on the Darkside.

I figured since I have a small business and an average budget for coins, wether they call em rare or not, the company was looking in the wrong place for a "DEEP POCKET INVESTOR" I also, thought that perhaps some of you guys got these kinds of Newsletters too always with the angle of fear and opportunity (greed).
The thing that bothers me most is they tend to tell you the market has to be in ULTRA RARITIES in order to be worthwhile. Some of you guys have serious money in your coins, but ULTRA RARITY? Anyway it seems to me the thinner you make the market the better the chances are for appreciation.
Well know dealers and people in this coin market are talking up a 300 million dollar fund to be announced in March. What bothers me is again, they say $25,000 and up coins only. Seems bad for the whole of coins especially if the deep pocket guys don't make their profits. What these guys engage in isn't much different than buying Modern Coins and worrying about who gets stuck when the market buying stops. Only these fellows are thinking big bucks small amount of coins and spread through fewer players. NO?

It means little to nothing to me as a collector. If I were primarily an investor or speculator, it might, assuming I believed it.
