2006 ASE 20th Anniversary sets increasing

Has anyone notice the selling prices of ASE 20th anniversary sets have been increasing on Ebay?

Single sets were going for about $200.00 to $225.00. Now going for $230.00 to $250.00.

10 set boxes mint sealed were going for about $2,000.00 to $2,200.00. Now they are going for $2,400.00 to $2,700.00 and some even higher.

The coins in this ASE set are very beautiful. I often view them a few times a week and very glad that I bought a few sets.

Yep...noticed. Note my sigline. That was a box dated 12/20/06 from the USMint...no "1st strike" available. Sold as a BIN this last Saturday, for $1400. That's for FIVE (5) sets sealed.
I still have a 5 set box that I was going to PCGS but have held off. I don't know how many, if any, PR70 I would get, and, at the rate the raw sets are rising, I don't think anything outside of a couple of 70s would be worth it (i am not a coin dealer/heavy ebay seller, so my time is valuable to me).

Now that PCGS will also make the RP and UNC 2006-W required in the registry sets, I see these going up more as well.
Plus, the USMint will make a 2007-W so there will be more of a "1st year of issue" going on rather than a "1-off". Tellin' ya, that 2006-W UNC is going to be a HOT coin soon. I was going to auction off 2 more I have (1 is up on ebay right now...bought 3 of them 2nd hand this weekend) but I am going to sit on them a bit longer.......they are going for $50-$60 raw right now and I can see that easily going up another $20+ in a month or two.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Yep, I check them fairly regularly. I've got two spare raw sets tucked away. Not sure at what point I'm gonna sell, but I see big things for these sets in the future. image

Someone must have been hard up for money so I helped them out...quickly

Don't know if it was a good deal but they were graded.

I sold five in the mint box for $240 each set a week or two ago on ebay.

It also seems that there are less and less PCGS "first strikes" in the Ebay listings. Maybe its only a plastic slab but I don't think anyone can argue that they get a pretty substancial premium.

I also Recently bought a GOLD PCGS MS70 for $1400 and thought that was a pretty good deal considering as I've been watching the few that have sold for 1600-1800.

Did the MS70 have the 20th anniversary designation??

$1400 is a very good deal on that coin.

When they hit $500 I'll get excited. A $20 swing don't mean much.

I wouldn't worry about not having the "FS" .. it's just a gimmick that usually wears off in time. Simply having them in MS-69 is enough. image

I debated whether or not to go for the sets but right now the individual 2007-w uncirculated ones are a better deal then getting the whole set given their price and mintage.

Yep and probably more after that.... you look at some of the proofs that had mintages just as high or higher and you can make a wild guess at where the price is going. I picked up 6 PCGS 69 specimens for $72 each shipped... I didn't get lucky enough to get them at mint price but they're still gonna go up. I also got some in the mint box for ~$60 each.

I see PCGS just added the uncirculated eagle to their price guide.. it wasn't there when I checked yesterday. I don't believe my slabs have the "20th anniversary" designation on them... whether that matters, it's the same coin whether it was in the set or sold individually. There might be price differences now for having different writing on the slab or a "FS" but in the end an MS-69 is an MS-69 and this will probably correct itself. There's no difference in the coin itself.
