Mint Sealed Boxes ASE's
I have been following the 20th Anniversary Silver Eagles on Ebay for the last 10 days and the mint sealed boxes of 10 sets have gone from around 2300 dollars to pushing 2900 in this short time. I know some folks think it's modern crap but man I wish I would have ordered 20 sets instead of one. I may take the plunge anyway and purchase another one. If this trend continue's, who knows where the price on these will stop. It would be a good way to fund my early wheat collection!!

If it makes you feel better the mint limited these to 10 sets per person.

<< <i>We all know how well the "limit per household" works. >>
I know, I actually followed it though and am kicking myself for not having all of my friends order for me. Just like all of the dealers have all of there employees and family order.
It is kind of strange that sealed boxes are rising and 70's are dropping.
San Diego, CA
Also, at some point, the market for Judas boxes could start falling...and when it does, everyone holding them for speculation and short-term profit will try to reach the exit doors before everyone else...and prices could plummet.
In other words, if as a seller one tries to chase the absolute top, you might wait until it's a little too late, and in this case, a "little" too late could result in a "lot" of lost profit.
Anyone specifically buying for speculative purposes -- particularly on the aftermarket -- may be handsomely rewarded, but it's not without a lot of downside risk when there are no more greater fools.

Hard to say. The easy money has already been made, though, and that went to the people who bought as many as they could from the Mint. Once these are fully dispersed I don't think there are 250,000 people out there willing to pay these prices ultimately, but I could be wrong.
There may still be money to be made, but not as much as has already been made in the short term, and with considerably more risk at these levels.
some get ahead.
Some are bidding on any Reserve Proofs that are cheap.
TAKE FOR INSTANCE the Pres/series coming up.....What to do?
'Some have taken a stance, set funds aside,....what is yours?

It's also how people buying tech stocks in March 2000 got ruined.
I am not predicting the same imminent collapse here, but it's certainly possible, and those putting many thousands of dollars into these purchases at these price levels need to understand the risk.
<< <i>How much are opened sets going for? >>
About two fiddy.

Key word of your statement is If
These were an outstanding buy from the Mint. As little down side risk as you can imagine, and large upside potential. At $225, you now have downside risk. There is also upside potential, and stagnation potential.
I have a box of 5 unopened sets still, but I kind of want to open it and take a set or two out.
We shall see.
I am also tempted to send it in for grading, but it wouldn't be 1st strike, and unless I got a handful of 70s, it wouldn't be worth it to me (still profitable at 69s, but not really worth the hassle for me).
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Heh.....I just sold one of the 2 boxes of 5 sets (see my sigline) so I am not doing too bad

My Hero stock is up 1/2% in the last 90 minutes. If that trend continues, by this time next year I'll own the world!!!!!!
