I'm west coast. I was awake while I was sleeping...I'm eagerly awaiting. I tried searching but ebay doesn't let you search by bidder anymore...

I'm able to search by bidder. However, Russ hasn't bid on anything with his selling ID. Maybe he finally got smart and/or tired of being followed around eBay and got himself a separate buying account.

The suspense is just about killing me. C'mon, Russ, grab that cell phone and show us what you got!

Ok Marty, fill in the missing information.

How much did Russ pay to win the coin? That is crucial information in determining how much Russ "sucks" on this acquisition. The other information needed is a good picture of the coin and Russ's opinion on what it will grade at. From looking at the small picture you posted it looks like the coin has big "PO" [potential].

Sleeping is right. The seller even had deep cameo in the title and everyone missed it! Russ can spot accented hairs better than a metal detector can find coins. Same beeping noise, though. Moon money for a proof set and it might turn out to be the bargain of the year!image

    Congrats, BTW.
  • RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭

<< <i>Russ, what was your winning bid price? >>

It was $33.50 for the set it's in.

$33.50 for a set that may have a half worth four figures.

Now that is a fine example of a cherrypick.

Please post a picture of the coin after your receive it. From Marty's photo, the coin may need a bath. If so, before and after pics would are requested.

It arrived today, and it will grade Deep Cameo at PCGS, likely PR67.

You would still have been the underbidder. In fact, if the seller would have been willing to add a Buy It Now when it was first listed, he'd have done one hell of a lot better than he did.

ok. i dont know alot about coins so i will ask a dumb question here. what is the difference between cameo and deep cameo?
  • RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭

<< <i>what is the difference between cameo and deep cameo? >>

The degree of contrast between the devices and the fields. A cameo will be nicely contrasted, while a deep cameo will be strongly contrasted. In addition, to get to the DCAM level, the mirrors must be exceptionally deep and glassy with no interruption by frostiness or luster.

Nice coin -- and still a nice score at 67 DCAM.
  • SanctionIISanctionII Posts: 12,922 ✭✭✭✭✭
Great coin. Are there any hairlines, water spots or other distractions on the coin not shown in the picture? Also what would the value at a 67 DCAM be.
  • ziggy29ziggy29 Posts: 18,668 ✭✭✭
    Russ sucks.

<< <i>Are there any hairlines, water spots or other distractions on the coin not shown in the picture? Also what would the value at a 67 DCAM be. >>

It has a faint hairline below the bust and another in the left obverse field. Thus, the PR67 grade. Current market value is around $3K.

Yes, I forgot to say RUSS SUCKS.

He has certainly worked hard for this one -- I belive it's been over 3 years since Russ made his last DCAM AH! These are truly scarce in DCAM.
