Here is a comparison to prior scarce issues (not including the 99W error/variety).

    1/10 Oz. (2006-W Estimate: 21,113)
    $65-70 Commons (200K and over)
    $165 Scarce (1988 159,500)

    1/4 Oz (2006-W Estimate: 14,811)
    $170 Commons(41K and over)
    $340 Scarce (1991 36,100) (Note: 1990 with 41K has hardly any premium)

    1/2 Oz (2006-W Estimate 14,069)
    $325 Commons (60K and over)
$1,085 Scarce (1991 24,100) (Note: many issues with 30-40K carry moderate premiums)

    1 Oz (2006-W Estimate: 43,850)
    $650 Commons (143K and over)
------ Scarce (Lowest mintage is 143K and carries no premium)
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!

    very interesting.

These not only are the lowest mintage by a good margin they are also the first year of branch mint unc Gold eagle. Should be interesting to see how people react to the new branch mint pieces, I would also guess that the mint will increase production in 2007 since the 2006 fractional pieces sold out so fast.
  • Options
I think the coins will do fine this year. They are not megga coins....they are not in 99-w class but the 2006-w gold uncs will be good coins.

    For those who are patient.

My grades were just posted, was hoping for a 70 on one of the $25 as well but I will take the Plat 70 over a fractional gold 70 any day.

Thanks, just luck of the draw. One board member posted grades on the three $25 gold they bought, had two 70's and one 69. Like I said earlier I will take the Plat 70 even though it would have been nice to get one 70 in both $10 and $25.

    "luck of the draw"

    exactly, I had a better luck on $10 plats, got 4 70's out of 5, but 0 on 5 $25 plats

have to hunt for $25 plat

Now that they are no longer available I sent a bunch of age 2006w in for grading today.....was getting close to my 30 days before sending them back to the mint.
It looks like the total mintage will make for a winner sooner or later
    Buy the dips!!!

This guy has quite a large set of testicles........starting bid $729.99 for a 2006-W 1oz AGE Unc.

Does anyone think he forgot to check that these 1oz. Unc's are still available all day from the mint for $720??

How about $16.95 shipping vs. $4.95 FedEx from the U.S. Mint??

I hope this guy is not a forum member(I highly doubt it), but what drives sellers like him to make a tiny dollars by streeeeetching the truth?

One more thing...look at his eBay banner....."VERY LIMITED EDITION COIN BY THE MINT ONLY 1 IN STOCK"

There must be more uninformed coin buyers out there than I thought.

Finally, this seller has several Morgan dollars up for auction.

Who in their right mind would bid on this great coin knowing how he is advertising the 1oz. AGE unc?

I was at a coin show two weeks ago and was offered a 2006 $50 proof platinum for the bargin price of $1200. Wanted so badly to tell them I could still buy one for $780 from the mint but I kept my mouth shut. I then offered him a ASE 20th anniversary set for $200 and he said that was "sucker money" and he could buy it anywhere else for half that price. Some people will just try /say anything to make money.

I assume this guy was no more than a second hand coin hawker, as opposed to a legitimate coin dealer.

Buyer beware......there are people out there that just want your money and will say and do anything to achieve their objective. image

he actually handed me his card in case I changed my mind on the $50 plat!
pm me if you want the name I don't want to publicly sling mud on people that rent tables at this show.

    Per NN:

Looks like the Mint found another 500 sets.

    1 oz - 5339 -- 16,520
    1/2 - 3356 -- 14,537
    1/4 - 4298 -- 15,479
    1/10 - 10,500 - 21,681

    4-coin set 11,181

    Still good though.
